DRAMA @ Blk 124!!!

I was awoken earlier today to the sound of an ambulance coming into into street 11. Heard it take the corner into my car park. It turned right, against traffic and stopped at my lift lobby. A cop waved it towards the far stairwell, away from my end of the block. A number of residents were downstairs already. I could see more coming out to the corridor to see the commotion. I was looking from my 5th floor window. My neighbour, Eric, was already in the corridor. i asked if he knew what was going on and he said he was going down to take a look. I told him to wait as i was going to join him. So, 2 kay poh's went down to have a look. Currently on site, 1 ambulance, 2 police cars.

When i exited the lift and turned right to make my way to the far end of the block, i saw that it was not near the 'under-the-block-table' as i had suspected. It was closer to the bin chute. Eric approached the other neighbours who were already there to watch. I, of course, moved closer. I was a young woman, lying by the side of the bin chute, moaning in pain. looked like a maid. The CD paramedics were immobilising here right leg. must be broken. 1st suspicion was that she fell from the kitchen window. Next to where she lay, there was a white plastic bag filled with what looked like her personal belongings. It was starting to look like she may not have fallen but she may have jumped, trying to escape. But from which house. assumptions were from the 2nd floor unit. But the neighbours there recognised here as from the 4th floor unit, one to the left of where she lay. There were rumours of ill treatment of the maid. By now, the CD paramedics had braced her leg and were trying to get here off the ground. But preliminary attempts to lift her, got her moaning to increase (suspected back injuries too, she may have landed feet first). That's when they utilised the pat slide. The pat slide comes in 2 halves and slide in from the sides. They lifted her onto the 'stretcher-with-wheels' and put her into the ambulance. The cops were sifting thru the white plastic bag, albeit all without gloves. The CD paramedics were on the other hand, decked out with masks and gloves. With the maid safely in the back of the ambulance and on the way to CGH, one female cop brought the white plastic bag upstairs. My thinking is to let the owners identify the maid's belongings and vice-versa for the cops to identify the maid's owners. She came back down empty handed.

Eric and myself then decided that the drama was over and retired back upstairs. We saw the 4 cops make their way upstairs. When we finally got upstairs, we looked down the corridor and saw the 4 cops going into the house. We also saw another cop car entering the car park area. Must be big for so many cops to be at hand.

Stay tuned for updates....

My mum only gets constant letters from one particular friend in the UK. Normally about once a month. One year ago, I introduced her to the internet and email. So it became constant emails from the UK every month. Now I've introduced her to skype and the free video call to any computer in the world. She is currently talking and seeing her friend in the UK in real time.

Isn't technology wonderful. If only they could make it easy for the 1930's generation.
